pdf font subsetting and embedding

post of unusually high utility from blodgett!
was having arg with subsetting pdf fonts in latex and a graph generated with gnumeric. have discovered that inkscape 0.47 onwards (http://www.inkscape.org/) does this automatically! joy! :D

to solve: open pdf in inkscape (keep setting of ‘import text as text’), save a copy, done
